They Might Be The New York Football Giants

Well there you have it folks....another stellar NFL season for the books.

The New York Giants are once again atop the gridiron mountain, with a 21-17 defeat of the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

Sorry Gisele....I'm sure God heard your prayers, but the ones coming from Giants fans may have been a bit more influential on his choice of which team to bless with a victory.

The G-Men followed the same approach that led them to their previous Super Bowl victory 4 years ago: stumble into the playoffs, catch fire at the perfect time, win some big road games on your way to the championship game, and then just act like your supposed to win.

And that's precisely what they did.

Questions: Is Eli Manning now an "elite" quarterback who deserves to be considered one of the best of all time?

Where does Tom Coughlin now rank within the coaching pantheon? Two Lombardi trophies in 4 years has got to improve his stock considerably.

The Key Play: Wide Receiver Mario Manningham's 38 yard catch during New York's game winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter. The reception was this year's version of the David Tyree velcro helmet grab from 4 years ago. Although it wasn't as acrobatic, it was an extremely difficult reception that required him to get both feet inbounds. Props to Eli for making a perfect throw.

Alternatively, if Wes Welker makes a big catch for the Patriots with about four minutes remaining in the game, the outcome may have been different.

Poor Wes was so damn hard on himself after the game.....But take it easy buddy. You're one of the reasons why the Pats had a chance to play for a Super Bowl to begin with.

So congratulations to the Giants for their 4th Super Bowl Championship in franchise history.

This 2nd world title in 4 years may in fact cement your legacy as one of the best teams of the 2000's so far.
