MLB Bids Adieu to Gary Carter

A Rest In Peace shout out to Mr. Gary Carter, who passed away this week after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was 57 years old.

Carter was known back in the day as the catcher for some pretty dope Montreal Expos teams in the 1980s that also included some of my favourite all-time players, including Rock Raines, Tim Wallach, and Hawk Dawson. I had so much fun watching those teams compete.

Nicknamed "The Kid," Carter played ten seasons pour les Expos, and then he went on to play another five seasons with the New York Mets where he won a World Series title in 1986 (remember "Buckner's Blunder?")

Carter was an 11-time All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.

So hats off to..... "The Kid."

Wow....been a tough week....first Whitney, now Gary Carter.

Damn.

  1. I feel you, Bro!! Growing up in O-Town, the Expos were THE team to follow. Man, I listened to so many games on the radio. What a stalwart Carter was for those years... so dependable. Thanks for posting this... took me down Memory Lane... Ram.

  2. Thanks for the appreciation Ram! I'm a Jays fan through and through, but Les Expos will always have a special place in my heart. Gary Carter was so consistently good for so many years for them....11 time all-star says it all!
