Hip Hop Mafioso Turf War: Team Money VS Team Throne

Of all the beefs in the Hip Hop game right now, the Lil Wayne VS Jay-Z beef is proving to be the most interesting. Both sides have thrown jabs at each other, but no one has thrown a knock out punch. So, I'll do what P&B do and break it down with an analysis of these 2 crews to see who's Capo dei capi and who's the paisano:

The Dons - Years On The Corner

Jay dropped his first full length album at 27, as the Hova franchise kicked off with "Reasonable Doubt" , which makes him a 16 year veteran. Incredibly, Lil Wayne released "The Block Is Hot" at the tender age of 17. In terms of experience, Weezy comes in with 13.

The Dons - Gold and Platinum

Hova's body of work is massive with 15 studio albums, 4 of them being collabos. Each release has been certified Platinum. "Volume 2...Hard Knock Life" leads the way as his most successful with 5 million records sold. On the flip, Wayne has 11 albums to his credit, with 2 collaborative efforts in the mix. His releases have been certified Platinum 4 times, and Gold on 7 occasions. "The Carter III" is his most sold at 3 X Platinum. No contest here.

The Dons - Power In Numbers

We know that these cats have sold tons of records, but who is the King of Units Moved? Jay-Z has sold at least 1 milli units of each album, summed up at approximately 31.3 million, good for an average of 2.1 per. Wayne has sold approximately 13.2 million units for an average of 1.2 per release. Numbers don't lie.

Net worth to show their worth. Jay-Z: 450 million. Birdman: 100 million.

La Famiglia - The Underboss

Kanye West can easily be a Don on his own and he is with his label, G.O.O.D. Music, which has an impressive roster. West has pushed the boundaries in Hip Hop and brought it to new grounds. His highly acclaimed "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and the often dogged "808 And Heartbreaks" have shown that he isn't afraid to take chances, whether the people dig it or not. Yeezy's influence and swag are hard to match where he could give Wayne a run for his money (pun intended). Team Money has one of the brightest stars around as Drake has established himself as the next big thing. He's tearing up the charts with every single and is by far the hottest Canadian export since maple syrup. OVO has tied Jay-Z's chart record for the most number one tracks on the R&B/Hip Hop chart with 9. Drizzy is 2 records (and 1 mixtape) into his career and will be a major force to be reckoned with. Kudos to the kid from the Tdot. Gotta look at the big picture here. Drake is too green to compete with the Louis Vuitton Don.

La Famiglia - Femme Fatale

Both rosters are heavy on talent and could be the topic for an entire post. The best of the rest are highlighted by 2 women that are leading the way in both of their genres. Rihanna is the Princess of Pop at this moment with an uncanny ability to release hot singles at every turn. She is also very close to releasing an album per year, which is insane considering how much she tours. Nicki Minaj is the premier female MC in the game and is the first female artists to have 7 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Her flow and rhymes make male MCs blush as she is extremely witty and aggressive. Like Drake, she lacks experience where Rihanna is already a grizzled veteran at 23. With 11 number one singles to her credit, Riri is he youngest artist to achieve this milestone. Sorry, Minaj...you never really stood a chance.

Conclusione

By my count, Team Throne easily runs away with this comparative by a landslide. The final tally is Team Throne 5, Team Money 1. On his own, Jay-Z has put would be contenders in the ground with ease (see: Nas). Team Money has been running their mouths like crazy lately, from Birdman to Lil Wayne to Nicki Minaj, with no grounds to do so in this writers humble opinion. The latest coming from Ms. Minaj as she claims that she will knock Hova off his throne. Nicki, as with the rest of the Cash Money/Young Money Crew, has tons of work to do before they gain the respect that Team Throne has earned. As West said on "Ni**as In Paris": "You gotta crawl before your ball". And at this moment, Jay-Z and his team are holding court.
