I got inspired listening to some old records last week. I was dying to write about it, but didn't have the context or a good reason to post up on it. So I passed it by Turnbull and we both agreed that we need to show our love for the back catalog. Least to say that we were both in like Kanye West and an "artsy" nude female photo shoot. We are proud to present the "Dig On" series, which will be a bi-weekly post that explores the classic albums that shaped our music tastes. You can expect the first volume this Sunday, and it will alternate with the always wicked Friday Flashback.
In other news, we added a new link to our approved blog section.

Great idea, gents. Can Hov's Blueprint album be called a classic yet? Would love to see a retrospective on that slammer, when Jigga was in his hey day and serving it up RAW... including an early glimpse at Mr. Ye when he was doing what he ever did best, sitting behind the boards and S'ing TFU! In any case, "The Takeover" deserves credit as one of the best diss records of all time (of course Pac's "Hit 'Em Up" reigns).
ReplyDeleteJigga's lately fans need to know how he fought his way to the top.
"The takeover, the break's over, nigga, God MC - me - Jay-hova, Hey lil soldier, you ain't ready for war....."
Any album can be considered a classic. It's all about impact on both a large and personal scale. Jay-Z's Blueprint is definitely up there. From Led Zeppelin III to Raising Hell to Kid A, we'll cover tons of great, timeless records in "Dig On".
DeleteYes indeed Ram, Blueprint is def a classic, and worthy of discussion. Can you believe that record is 11 years old? (released on 9/11). The Takeover is one of my fave diss tracks ever! I love that Doors sample too!
ReplyDeleteFave line: "When I was pushin' weight, back in '88 .... You was a ballerina, I got da pictures, I seen ya!"
Blazin!!
Wikid, dudes. Looking forward to the Dig On series!
