This trio from NYC, featuring MC Kid Dilla and producers CakeXCrumbs, are hitting it on all cylinders for what can be a well maintained hip hop vehicle for years. The first cut I sampled, "Temptations", has a throwback soul sample that really hooked me in. Then "The Tale of Mr Street" straight up punched me in the face. Sick grooves, hot flows and smart rhymes. Their emergence could not have come at a better time.
They released the Premier EP/mixtape last week, which you can download via a link on their facebook page (you need to Like this now) or directly from LimeLinx. This 7 song effort is a great teaser for what's in store for all the heads out there. It features the 2 singles mentioned above, as well as some more sick offerings. "bernie madoff" stands out with a strong bass line that carries the song along the journey. I was also pleasantly surprise by "Skitzo", in which they are performing over "Show Me a Good Time" by Drizzy. I didn't speak with Drake yet, but I'm sure he approves.
For all the buzz that Wiz Khalifa, Theophilous London and Champagne Champagne are building, this is the shit you should be paying attention to with all of your focus. This is some straight up old school with a modern twist. I would go as far as saying that this is Nouveau Zulu Nation. I might be jumping the gun, but I haven't been this jacked for an official release in a minute.
