He is not shirtless. Or wearing tight hot pants. It's like every cut on the album is the secret song from Purple...yuletide-o-fied. Weiland croons through your favorite holiday classics complete with a jazzy and sometimes orchestral accompaniment. I'm attempting to draw a conclusion on what Weiland's intent was as he worked on this cheerful chestnut roaster: joke or holly jolly attempt at a change of pace?
The reggae infused rendition of Holy Night (complete with steel drums) is quite amusing and needs to be sampled. As much as folks might be humbugging on this album (ok...no more Xmas references), it's an enjoyable sleigh ride (sorry) through the holiday repertoire. Don't expect any rock versions of these standards. But you can expect a smile to come across your face.
You can stream the album here.
