The album bolted to #1 everywhere in the world almost instantaneously to no ones surprise. Estimates of 500K units sold have been kicked around for the first week, which would be second to Lady Gaga's 1 million for Born Like This in 2011 (hateration break: her album was sold at $1 for a bit). The incredible side story for Watch The Throne's release was the absence of the always reliable leak. This, according to many and to my knowledge, is the first major album released in the digital age that did not make it's way to your favorite pirating site before it's street date. Quite a regal trick that Ye and Jay can patent, box and sell to all those puzzled labels. For all you cats that still dig on hard copies, the CD will be available on August 12th.
Tickets for The Throne Tour went on sale on the same day as the iTunes release for all the scheduled cities in North America. This shit is on! If you didn't get a chance to grab tix by now, you'll have to take a stroll into scalperville to get yours. The Ticketmaster prices were high enough, and I don't even want to see what they will be going for now. Paqman and Bull got their entry passes (and mortgaged their houses in the process). Are you in?
All this to say that a P&B BBM album review chat of Watch the Throne is coming to you soon.
**SPOILER ALERT: It's not all about the love***
Tell your partner, tell your 3rd cousin from Wawa Ontario, but most importantly tell you Mom about the most insightful Throne review you will read...next week.
