Me and Paqman love Kicks.
Actually, we like all kinds of men's footwear, but we especially love a great pair of sneakers.
I was in the market for a new pair for the upcoming Spring/Summer season, and saw this particular brand in the window of a New Balance store in West Toronto.
PF Flyers (PF stands for Posture Foundation) have been around for a long time, originally established in 1937 by the BF Goodrich Company. They were the first shoes to be endorsed by a professional athlete, as legendary Boston Celtics point guard Bob Cousy used to rock these back in the 1950s.
PF Flyers were also a primary sponsor of the Jonny Quest animated science fiction TV series in 1964:
The brand reached the height of its popularity in the 50s and 60s, but then fell off during subsequent decades.
Finally in 2001, the brand was bought by New Balance and they've been distributing them ever since.
Now will these shoes ever outsell or become more popular than Chuck Taylors?
I doubt it.
But ... if you're looking for an alternative and wanna try something new, give these a shot! I'm diggin' my pair.
