UPDATE WITH STATEMENT - Hockey And Politics: Tim Thomas Refuses To Join The Boston Bruins For White House Celebration

Tim Thomas, the Conn Smythe trophy winner for the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins, declined the White House's invitation to celebrate their accomplishment. Thomas is a known Tea Party supporter and we can only assume that this was the reason why he didn't show up. I don't agree with what Whyshynski wrote, but I will reserve my full comment until Thomas releases his statement on Facebook NHL.com.

My initial feeling is that this is a classless move by the Bruins goal tender. A visit to the White House is an honour and not an opportunity for grandstanding. Politics and pucks don't belong together.

I got inspired listening to some old records last week. I was dying to write about it, but didn't have the context or a good reason to post up on it. So I passed it by Turnbull and we both agreed that we need to show our love for the back catalog. Least to say that we were both in like Kanye West and an "artsy" nude female photo shoot. We are proud to present the "Dig On" series, which will be a bi-weekly post that explores the classic albums that shaped our music tastes. You can expect the first volume this Sunday, and it will alternate with the always wicked Friday Flashback.

And 1: Google One Ups Social Approval

Google is officially jumping into the "Like" game that was popularized by Facebook. The new add on for your Google profile will allow you to "+1" search results and eventually will be available on your favorite sites.

Google says that the +1 stands for "this is pretty cool" or "you should check this out" according to the launch page for the new offering.
