Calling An Audioble: A Place To Bury Strangers

Did I ever mention that I love streaming services? To me, they're all about music discovery where you'll find a lot of junk. And on occasion, a gem. Enter: A Place To Bury Strangers. The Brooklyn three piece has been kicking it since 2001 and are still going strong. My introduction comes in the form of their new EP, Onwards To The Wall.

The band consists of  Oliver Ackermann on vocals and guitar, Dion Lunadon on the bass, and Jason "Jay Space" Weilmeister behind the kit. APTBS caught my attention due to their atmospheric vibe and ethereal vocals. Their sound can come across as messy and chaotic at times, but that's part of the charm. It reminds me of Joy Division at times thanks to how they groove on the cuts.

In their early days, APTBS were known as NYC's "Loudest Band" and the New York Times hailed the band as revivalists for "the ominous, feedback-drenched drones of the 1980s". They've also toured with some pretty rad bands as they supported Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nine Inch Nails and MGMT.

Take the time and give Bury Strangers a spin. For your convenience, here is their video for "So Far Away" which appears on their new EP. The vid features a stream of photos taken by Lunadon using Instagram, which is an iApp that applies a "vintage" filter that look like polaroids:
